Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why are you charging to use a shared branch/service center?
A: Technology changes over the last several years have provided other convenient options for members to do the same kinds of transactions without using a shared branch or service center. Members now have expanded fee-free access to CO-OP ATMS, mobile deposit and Saturday hours at all of our locations. Give us a call to discuss your specific needs, and other options available to help you avoid the fee.
Q: I am going to close my account because I live out of state / not close to an LOC branch, and I don’t want to pay the fee.
A: We are sorry to hear that. Please stop by a branch or contact us at 800.837.4562 to discuss your specific needs and other options available to help you avoid the fee.
Q: I used to be able to use other bank ATMs without paying a fee. Now I am being charged $1.50 by LOC. How come?
A: LOC has decided to focus on expanding fee-free access to ATMs in the CO-OP Network. There are more than 30,000 across the United States. This network is larger than some of the big banks! Even though we previously did not charge our $1.50 fee on your first four withdrawals at other bank ATMs, you were still likely assessed surcharge, which can be as high as $3 to $4 dollars. You will not pay a surcharge at CO-OP machines. Find one near you.
Q: There isn’t a CO-OP ATM that’s convenient for me. What do you suggest?
A: You can still use non-CO-OP ATMs to make deposits and not pay the LOC out-of-network fee, if there is a convenient machine that will take deposits. You can also use your debit card and get cash back at participating merchants when you are making a purchase. LOC does not charge a fee for this type of transaction.
Q: Why is LOC opening at 10 a.m. during the week? Don’t all banks open earlier?
A: Our drive-thrus at Farmington and Howell are open at 9 a.m. We decided to open our lobbies at 10 a.m. after reviewing foot traffic and member feedback. We are also now open from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturdays, which was a preference for many members. If you need to speak with a member advisor and find the time between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. most convenient, you can do so by making an appointment ahead of time.
Q: Why is LOC no longer open until 6 p.m. on Friday?
A: Our drive-thrus at Farmington and Howell do remain open until 6 p.m. on Fridays. If you need to speak with a member advisor and find the time between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Friday most convenient, you can do so by making an appointment ahead of time. Farmington and Howell branches are also open now on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until noon. This includes both the lobby and drive-thru. We’ve also recently installed a drive-up ATM at Farmington for your added convenience.
Q: How do I make an appointment?
A: You can give us a call to make an appointment. In the near future, you will be able to make an appointment from our website by selecting a product/service, branch, date and time.
