COVID-19 Update

Beginning January 9th, we are temporarily extending Saturday drive-thru hours at both our Farmington and Howell locations from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Dear Valued Member:

First and foremost, thank you for the continued trust you’ve placed in LOC during this past year. Despite all its challenges with the global pandemic, we experienced both record loan and savings growth as members continued to turn to LOC for their lending needs and trusted us as a safe and secure place for their money.

As we begin 2021, almost every aspect of our daily lives continues to be impacted by COVID-19. We made the necessary decision to continue lobby closures for routine cash transactions and serve members by appointment-only for non-cash needs. More recently, the second Federal stimulus payment has impacted service levels as members sought to inquire and transact on these funds.  

Our team recognizes that wait times for the Contact Center and in the drive-thrus have been significantly longer than what you’ve come to expect from LOC. We’ve always prided ourselves on providing fast and efficient service, so I apologize for any reduced service levels you may have experienced. This issue is temporary in nature. 

While we face these temporary service level issues, I wanted to offer options that I hope will alleviate some of the pain points you may be experiencing while conducting business in our drive-thrus:

  • We are temporarily extending drive-thru hours at our Farmington and Howell branches on Saturdays from 9 am. until 2 p.m. beginning January 9.
  • If you know you are going to have one of the following transactions you can make an appointment in advance, or if you find yourself waiting in the drive-thru to perform one of the following transactions, call or text us at 800.837.4562 to see if we are able to assist you with an immediate appointment in our lobby based on staff availability:
    • Instant Issue Debit Card
    • IRA Transactions 
    • Cashier Checks
    • Wire Transfers
    • Fraud Affidavits
    • Rolled Coin
    • Visa Cash Advances
    • Gift Card Purchases
  • Each branch has a drop box. You can use this to make your deposit or loan payment. We check this every hour during business hours, and we can email your receipt once we’ve processed your transaction. 

In conversations with members, we’ve been asked “why did you close your lobbies to basic cash transactions when some banks have not?” and “when do you plan to reopen your lobbies?” Simply put, we are trying to avoid a potential virus exposure and subsequent outbreak that would put our staff, our members and their families at risk. The last thing we want do to is to close a location for a significant period of time due to an outbreak at one of our branches and further impact service levels.

I am hopeful with the news of the vaccine and downward trend of cases in Michigan that we will be able to fully reopen our lobbies soon. The decision to do so will be made based on the number of cases being reported in our market area and the guidance provided by health and governmental officials.

In the meantime, know the team at LOC wants to work with you to provide options and solutions so you can conduct your financial business without the additional stress this health crisis brings. Included below are reminders on how you can conduct routine business with LOC remotely.

November 2020 Update

Our lobbies will be available by appointment only for non-cash transactions. Please use our drive thrus, ATMs or night drop to perform all cash transactions.

Dear Valued Member:

With the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Michigan and with the health and safety of our members and team members in mind, LOC has decided to close our lobbies to walk-in traffic and move to seeing members by appointment only for non-cash transactions. Cash transactions can be performed using our drive thru, ATMs or night drops.

This operational model was one that we used early in the pandemic and is one that served both the credit union and its members extremely well while reducing the risk of exposure for everyone.

When making an appointment, we appreciate your cooperation with the following:

  • Do not make an appointment if you have

    • Any COVID-19 related symptoms

    • Had any close contact in the last 14 days with someone with a COVID-19 diagnosis

    • Had close contact in the last 14 days with an individual exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19

  • Wait inside your vehicle until your scheduled appointment time

  • Wear a mask that covers both your nose and mouth while inside our offices. If you need a mask, simply ask and we will provide one to you

  • Make use of hand sanitizer located throughout our offices

  • Limit the number of people in your party to only those who are needed to complete your financial business

Here's what we are doing to protect you and our team members:

  • Performing daily wellness checks of our team members prior to their arrival

  • Wearing Masks

  • Ongoing deeper cleaning of our offices

  • Adding protective shields where appropriate

  • Applying an EPA registered water-based, antimicrobial technology to our ATMs and drive thrus on a quarterly basis
